Landmark Riverside Park Shopping Mall

Project Name: Landmark Riverside Park Shopping Mall

Completion Year: 2023

Gross Built Area: 64,000m2

Project location: Chongqing, China

Landmark Plaza, an urban cultural and tourism complex jointly developed by Hongkong Land and China Merchants Shekou, is located on Nanbin Road, known as the "Bund of Chongqing," opposite the Chongqing Grand Theater and offering stunning views of the Jiefangbei and Jiangbeizui CBDs. The project site integrates traditional Sichuan dwellings, Republican-era elements, and Western architectural relics.

In 2022, Landmark Plaza's renovation officially began. The AOE Design Team emerged victorious from a fierce competition, winning the design rights for the renovation of the Landmark Plaza Shopping Park and Danzishi Old Street. Subsequently, the AOE Design Team worked closely with the client for two years of meticulous planning, design, and construction, comprehensively upgrading Landmark Plaza across multiple dimensions, including commercial positioning, business model optimization, facade upgrades, and the enhancement of urban public spaces. On December 22, 2023, the upgraded Landmark Plaza unveiled its stunning new look, becoming a new landmark for Chongqing.

During the upgrade and design process, the AOE design team focused on optimizing the Changjiahui Shopping Park's riverfront facade and rooftop viewing platform.

In renovating the riverfront facade, AOE preserved the site's heritage, maintaining the original facade's Western architectural arches and beige stone tones. Furthermore, the exterior window ratio was increased, creating a distinctive shopping environment for the shops. Glass display windows allow for a clearer display of brands and scenes within the mall, maximizing commercial value. Furthermore, floor-to-ceiling curtain walls bring river views indoors, allowing customers to enjoy stunning views of the Chongqing Grand Theater, Chaotianmen Bridge, and the confluence of the two rivers while shopping.

The champagne-colored metal panels used on the facade add a modern and youthful touch to the project. The combination of the facade materials and contours creates a new, floodlit nightscape, adding a touch of color to the city's nightscape.

The rooftop terrace creates an outdoor bar street, creating a dreamy "sunset" atmosphere. This complements live houses, wine bars, coffee shops, desserts, and afternoon tea, providing an open and diverse public cultural and lifestyle space for residents.

Aoe has also optimized commercial circulation, strengthening secondary commercial entrances and streamlining the traffic flow between the podium and indoor shops. This seamlessly integrates indoor shopping and leisure activities with outdoor city views and nightlife, making Chang Jia Hui a new urban consumption, leisure, and sightseeing destination
